[Objective] As a new publishing mode, registered report has been introduced in some foreign journals in recent years, but it is still in its infancy in China. This study analyzes the publishing mode and development status of registered reports. The study reveals the innovative construction of registration reports in the open science field and, also, its enlightenment to the construction of domestic academic journals. [Methods] Through literature analysis, the study systematically elaborated the history, basic concepts, core elements and innovative construction of registered report. At the same time, it sorted out its advantages and limitations, and forecasted its influence on the construction of domestic academic journals. [Results] It was found that registered report restrained results bias and publication bias in traditional academic journals to a certain extent, and the application of subject areas was on the rise. However, in the publishing process of registration reports, scientific research institutions or academic journals in different fields have some differences, and there are also problems such as standardized process, lack of transparency of registration agreements and limited scope of application. [Conclusion] To improve the quality of scientific research , it is suggested that domestic academic journals should build a registered report publishing mode through information technology system, which can help open science become a social consensus.
