International Online Jiangsu report (Xiaoqiang Han correspondent Shujie Pang): on July 9, the first "Mr. Sai" science communication Suzhou forum was held in Xiangcheng District, Suzhou. Nearly 200 scientific researchers, experts and scholars in the field of science communication from more than 20 provinces and cities all over the country gathered to convey the mission of science communication and gather the strength of innovation and development.

Yaping Li, mayor of Suzhou, said in his speech that the establishment of the evaluation base of "Mr. Sai" science and medical public communication award in Suzhou is not only a concern and affirmation for the science popularization work in Suzhou, but also an incentive and spur. Suzhou will take this opportunity to further strengthen the publicity and popularization of scientific knowledge, strengthen communication and close cooperation with universities, scientific research institutes and social organizations, and strive to build a "paradise for entrepreneurs and innovators".

Jing Ji, Secretary of Suzhou Xiangcheng District Party committee, delivered a speech and made a promotion of Xiangcheng District. She said that Xiangcheng District is a central city with superior regional environment, a city of opportunities superimposed by national strategies and a city of Innovation led by the new economy.

Liming Wang, initiator of "Mr. Sai" science and medicine public communication award, judge Yuao Chen and researcher Yongchun Zheng also shared their understanding and perception of "Mr. Sai" science and medicine public communication award.

At the forum, the nomination of the second "Mr. Sai" science and medical public communication award was officially launched, the unveiling ceremony of the evaluation base of "Mr. Sai" science and medical public communication award was held, and the "Soochow University Xiangcheng science communication research practice base" was also officially unveiled. It is understood that in order to better integrate the academic communication resources of Soochow University, Xiangcheng District and Soochow University jointly build the "Soochow University Xiangcheng scientific communication research and practice base".

After a lapse of 20 years, one of the most important academic activities in the field of science communication in the world will return to China. Soochow University, China University of science and technology and China Institute of popular science have successfully bid for the 2024 Suzhou annual meeting of the International Association for science and technology communication (PCST). Suzhou has also become the second Chinese city to hold PCST seminar after Beijing.
