Note for Tentative Agenda for IAMCR 2022 Suzhou Pre-conference on Science Communication (July 8-10)

Under the COVID-19 containment protocols in China, the IAMCR 2022 Suzhou Pre-conference on Science Communication has to be shifted to a three-day ONLINE conference via Zhumu (https://www.zhumu.com/), an authorized partner conference platform of ZOOM in China. Please go to https://www.zhumu.com/ to DOWNLOAD the App/software in advance.

The International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) annual conference is the world’s fourth largest -- the largest outside the United States -- academic journalism and communication conference. The IAMCR 2022 Suzhou Pre-conference on Science Communication is to address a range of fundamental questions regarding science communication solutions to a polarized post-COVID-19 world inflicted by misinformation. Among the 250 submissions worldwide, 108 studies have been accepted to the event and will be presented in the plenary or up to 20 parallel sessions. Given the large number of accepted submissions, the pre-conference is extended from the originally scheduled one day (10 July only) to three days between 8 and 10 July, which is also thanks to kind understanding of our colleagues and the convenience offered by the online setting of this event.

Under the current arrangements, the IAMCR 2022 Suzhou Pre-conference on Science Communication will feature three plenary sessions: the opening on 8 July, the plenary on 9 July, and the closing ceremony on 10 July. There will also be 20 parallel sessions spanning across the three-day duration of the event.

Opening Ceremony from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm Beijing Time on 8 July (equivalent to 11:30 am Universal Time and 7:30 am EST)

Parallel sessions from 9 am to 5 pm Beijing Time on 9 July, and from 9 am to 3:20 pm Beijing Time on 10 July.

Plenary session 2 from 7:00 pm to 9:20 pm Beijing Time on 9 July.

Closing Ceremony from 3:40 pm Beijing Time on 10 July.

The IAMCR 2022 Suzhou Pre-conference on Science Communication's organizing committee is keen for all registrants and authors to attend the event and try to be as convenient as possible for colleagues. As scheduled, the opening ceremony is set to take place at 7:30 pm Beijing time for the convenience of speakers/audiences based in different continents. Other plenary sessions will also be held at a time friendly to most international participants. Sorry for any inconvenience the above schedule change may cause to authors and registrants.

No matter whether their submissions are accepted, all registrants and contributing authors are welcomed to the IAMCR 2022 Suzhou Pre-conference on Science Communication to address a range of fundamental questions regarding science communication solutions to a polarized post-COVID-19 world inflicted by misinformation. We welcome the presence of all registrants and contributing authors on Zhumu.
